The droidcon Greece 2015 took place on the 10th-12th of September at the Science Center and Technology Museum “NOESIS” in Thessaloniki.

It was the first droidcon in Greece and you know that I like to attend those first events of a series because they are always something special. This event was no exception. I really liked it.

1. Configurable user login/registration.
2. Configurable forums-section: Yes/No.
3. Configurable comments. Yes/No. If yes, what kind of comments are allowed (internal or external).

The Apps World Germany 2015 took place on April 22/23 at the CityCube in Berlin. It was the first Apps World in Germany and I was curious because the lineup looked very interesting.

After the two days I left Berlin with mixed emotions. Actually the event was quite good... but...

The big topics in 2015 will be my Ruby on Rails based CMS Chimoora and Android development in general.

I will leave MEDION, where I currently work as a Senior Software Engineer in their Android-Team, by the end of March so I will then have more time for my own projects.

From April on I will work on Chimoora and I will continue to deepen my knowledge about Android and iOS. Furthermore I will attend a few, mostly Android related, events. Follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for the latest updates.

My website has recently been relaunched. Now it uses Chimoora, a Ruby on Rails based Content Management System (CMS). I was just setting up a new RSS Reader when I realized that Chimoora still had no RSS Feed for the blog articles.

Here is how I implemented the RSS Feed for Chimoora in 3 steps.

The Droidcon UK 2014 took place on November 30/31 at the Business Design Centre in London. After the Droidcon in Berlin, Germany this was my second big Android event this year.

It was my first Droidcon UK and I would like to thank my employer MEDION for the opportunity to attend this event.

Published: August 09, 2014    Author: Achim Fischer now has a photo section. As you may know I travel quite a lot and wherever I am, I take a lot of photos. Of course I do have accounts on platforms like 500px but that's not the same as an own photo gallery on my own website :-)

During the last weeks I worked on the Chimoora CMS to integrate "Photos" and now it's done. I will start with a few galleries and a handful of photos. Of course, much more photos will be uploaded in the future. I will let you know ;-)

The Google I/O 2014 took place on June 25/26 at the Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco and I was there.
It was my first IO and I would like to give a big "thank you" to my employer MEDION for the opportunity to attend this awesome event :-)
Most (if not all) of the sessions are on YouTube in the meantime so in this post I will only write my personal thoughts on the Google I/O 2014.

My website has been relaunched! The website now runs on Chimoora, a Ruby on Rails based Content Management System (CMS). On my new website I will post articles around software development, mobile devices and all other geek stuff that I love. Also, be prepared to see some photos. I'm a hobby photographer ;-)

To relaunch a website always means a lot of work! For this new website I even wrote a complete CMS from scratch. Chimoora is based on Ruby 2, Rails 4 and Bootstrap 3. runs on Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr). The Rails application server is Phusion Passenger Enterprise 4.

Published: April 05, 2014    Author: Achim Fischer has been powered by the CMS Joomla! for a couple of years. Now, the time has come to replace it with a brandnew CMS. In recent months I wrote an own CMS from scratch and now it's ready for prime time! will soon be relaunched. The website will then be powered by Chimoora, a Ruby on Rails based Content Management System.

Some information about the relaunch:

On February 1st, 2014 I will join the Android team at Medion in Essen, Germany as a "Senior Software Engineer". In this new regular job I will help to create great Android devices with our team in Essen and our partners in China.

This fulltime job will of course affect all my other projects. In short I would say:

Much less (almost zero) Joomla!, a bit more Ruby on Rails and much more Android.
